Hi guys I thought I'd share with you my tutorial for making a folding gift card To make the card you will need:
Firstly you need to trim down the 12x12 sheet to 11x8.5": |
On both the short 8.5 sides mark the centre at 4 1/4" and score. |
On both the long 11" sides mark the centre at 5 1/2" and score across. |
Go back to the short sides and mark 4 1/2". |
and go to the long sides and mark 4". |
Now this is where its hard to visualise but holding your paper portrait we are going to score diagonally from your top 4 1/2 down to the side 4" mark on the right hand side of the paper. |
If you turn the paper round and do the same on the opposite corner your paper should look like the picture above. |
Now that's all the scoring done we just have to fold, depending on the way you lay your paper will determine the pattern showing on your card, so the best way to look at it is the pattern facing the matt will be the main one showing. |
Fold both corners into the centre. |
Bring the bottom half up to meet the top. |
and then fold in half again to make your card shape. |
You now have a pocket on the front as well as one on the inside. |
Decorate as you like, here I have used the off cut to make the border which keeps the card matching and the waste down. |
Happy card making. Ger x: |
