What's Available To Do

The Scottish Dolphin Centre is a fantastic place the visit while you are at Spey Bay. Open 7 days from April to October, there is a nice café and lots to see. Admission is free.

The Walk

Standing with the river mouth on your right you can see the entrance to the path in front of you. This short section of the path is quite poor but well worth the attempt as excellent views across the estuary are available.

After about ½ mile the path widens and from here the path is very good being mostly tarmac'd. Approximately a ½ mile later you will reach a junction. You should take the road to the right which is signposted to Garmouth.

About half way along this section you come to the bridge over the river and just before and after the bridge it is possible to leave the path and get down to the rivers edge. From here some lovely views can be had.

The entire walk had some amazing opportunities to observe the local wildlife, from seals and dolphins in and around the estuary to some great birdlife and squirrels further inland. Although we didn't spot any dolphins on this trip, we were fortunate enough to see and photograph a cormorant catching its dinner beside the bridge, an amazing sight which made the entire walk worthwhile on its own.

Continuing along after the bridge it's a short walk to the car park at Garmouth. For those who are unable to manage the uneven path from Spey Bay this would be an excellent place to leave the car and walk to the bridge.
