“GET IN presents”, a youth arts promotions collective formed in partnership with The Touring Network, announces Mike Vass and Mairearad Green, two of Scotland’s most highly regarded instrumentalists and composers in traditional music, to tour the Highlands and Islands in March/April 2018 including performing venues in Easter Ross, Nairn and Skye.
A few years ago, Mike Vass and Mairearad Green decided to meet one day a month to write and play music together. Although, given their busy schedules they didn’t always make every month, this was the start of “A Day A Month” collaborations. Now they have an album together!
Mike and Mairearad have been friends for a long time and have played music together in various combinations over the years. Both musicians are well known composers in The Scottish Traditional Music scene, however this album includes only Traditional melodies and not any of their own compositions. The music was sourced from books such as The Gesto Collection of Highland Music, The Atholle and Highland Collections and The Moidart Collection. The pair recorded the album in a small croft house in Mairearad’s home village of Achnahaird.
This tour will feature music from the new album, as well as original songs from the pair and some new music in collaboration with Seán Gray - who will accompany Mairearad and Mike on the tour - himself a fantastic guitarist, flautist and composer. Most recently having completed a New Voices commission for Celtic Connections 2017

Elgin Academy
An event is being held at Elgin Academy on Monday 26th of March at 7pm, to raise funds for local charity 'Friends of Chernobyl's Children - Moray'.
This talent showcase evening features a range of acts, performed by pupils and staff of Elgin Academy.
