Residents in a Moray community are being urged to take advantage of a local dial-a-bus service during the 10-week closure of a pedestrian bridge over the River Findhorn on the outskirts of Forres.
The bridge is used by people living in Broom of Moy as a pedestrian shortcut to the town.
However, it will close temporarily from July 1 to allow the bridge to be extended as part of the River Findhorn and Pilmuir flood alleviation scheme.
Reaching Forres by road from Broom of Moy, on the opposite side of the river, involves a journey of almost four miles.
A dial-a-bus service already operates in the Forres area and Moray Council has urged Broom of Moy residents to make use of it during the bridge closure.
The service provides door-to-door transport and is available to everyone regardless of age or disability. It operates between 8am and 5pm Monday to Friday and journeys can be booked up to a week in advance by calling 01343 562529 between 9.30am and 1pm on weekdays.
A single fare from Broom of Moy to Forres is £2.70 although the holders of concessionary bus passes can travel free.
